The Story of Tangerine Time Machine

Tangerine Time Machine defies expectations, crafting music that blurs the boundaries between nostalgia and innovation. Their sound—a mix of groove-heavy rhythms, bluesy riffs, and soulful rock—feels like it’s been with us forever yet is undeniably fresh. They’re a band out of time in the best way possible, seamlessly weaving influences from the past with their vision for the future.

But who are they, really? Whispers suggest they’ve been present at some of music history’s most iconic moments. Perhaps they were in the crowd at Woodstock or strolled down Abbey Road just before that legendary photo was taken. Maybe they watched Zeppelin ignite their first stage or soaked in the raw power of the blues before it became rock’n’roll. Their story is both a mystery and a legend that invites you to imagine a world where music wasn’t bound by the limitations of time, where the echoes of one era inform the pulse of another.

Led by Jason Karman, whose fiery guitar riffs and soulful vocals drive their sound, Tangerine Time Machine thrives on authenticity. Jason’s work restoring vintage gear like his Helios Console infuses their recordings with analog warmth — a stark contrast to today’s often times overly processed digital production. Kenny Kochajda, a dynamic bass player and singer, provides groove and depth, drawing from decades of exploring the underground music scene and musical history. Meanwhile, Eric Pedenelli’s expressive drumming brings power, passion and precision, propelling the band forward with raw, and unrelenting energy. Together, they craft songs that resonate—music you don’t just hear but also feel.

Tangerine Time Machine has earned their place on stages alongside national and international acts. Most recently, they opened for Gong, the legendary pioneers of progressive rock, and Sponge, icons of the 90s alternative scene. Their live performances are immersive and electrifying, leaving audiences captivated and craving more.

For Tangerine Time Machine, the mission is clear: to breathe life into a music scene that has grown increasingly homogenized. They aim to revive the diversity and soul of a bygone era when blues, funk, folk, and rock each had a distinct voice yet found ways to intersect. While mainstream music today often feels dictated by algorithms, Tangerine Time Machine believes in the power of craftsmanship, emotion, and storytelling to connect with listeners on a deeper level.

They’ve taken an unconventional route in today’s music industry, eschewing streaming platforms in favor of physical media and live performances. Why? Because music should be more than disposable content; it should be something you hold, treasure, and revisit.

Why the B&W Website??? That is a good question. Even though we may have traveled through time, we do not have unlimited time. We have some designs from various decades, and bootstrapping this band in the 21st Century we need to organize and put it all together. But as important as an impressive website might be, nobody listens to a band due to their website. It is however very important for us to work on music and recording. So we have opted to keep it simple and hopefully you will be able to figure out how to see more about us on social media until we can dedicate the time to get things sorted out on here — or get some help doing so.
